Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an
interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They
ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive
individualized, high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a
clinical environment supported through a Shared Governance Model.
The framework for practice is steered by a Professional Practice
Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are
derived from these models and supported by Core Values. All RN
Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed and knowledgeable. They
uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional
Nurse Practice Act. The Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics
Standards are implemented as put forth by the American Nurses
Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is
expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient and
system policies and procedures. They support service excellence
goals. The RN performs the Nursing Process, including assessment,
diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in clinical
care. Care is individualized, using analytical and critical
thinking, and coordinated through effective partnerships.
Relationship-based patient-centered care is provided that adapts to
reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. The RN always
partners with the patient and significant others, as appropriate.
Current clinical practice standards are used in practice. The RN
coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient
care that promotes the professional care delivery model. Teamwork
and collaboration are demonstrated by practicing in a manner that
is fiscally responsible. The RN participates in and supports
performance improvement activities. They complete all initial and
ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory
education. The RN serves as a preceptor or mentor for other
professional nurses. They promote Evidence-Based Practice, nursing
research, and performance improvement. Health care system
organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies
are upheld. The RN participates in data collection and poses
relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
Resources and support are provided to proactively plan for the care
of patients across the care continuum. Efficient and effective use
of human and material resources is supported. The RN complies with
all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Other duties
