Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Macon, Georgia, 31201! Job
Title: RN - PCU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care
Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: Minimum of 2 years PCU RN experience required License:
Required license for practicing as an RN Certifications: NIHSS,
BLS, ACLS certification required; CCRN preferred; BCR required
Must-Have: EKG competency exam required Description: This position
is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. The
facility is a teaching hospital with a Level 1 Trauma designation.
The unit has 10 beds with a current census of 10 patients. Patient
types include step-down ICU patients and those admitted from the
ER. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, renal failure,
sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke,
pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses. Patient ratios are 1 RN to
3-4 patients. A CNA will be available for assistance with tasks
such as vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulating,
and hourly rounding. A unit secretary will be available during the
day. The RN may be required to float within and below their scope
as needed. There is support from respiratory therapists and
hospital intensivists available 24/7. Common skills required for
this position include trach care, chest tube management, IV starts,
management of invasive lines, and assistance with bedside
procedures such as chest tube placement and tracheostomy. The EMR
used is EPIC. Other equipment includes IV pumps, medication
dispensing systems, and vital sign monitors. Weekend rotation will
require working 5-6 weekends out of 12 during a 6-week schedule.
Holiday expectations include working one shift during each major
holiday. Requests for time off must receive manager approval. Unit
