Source Performance Enhancement Athletic Training Resident
Department/Program: Sports Medicine- Multiple Settings,
Residency-Performance Enhancement Reports To: Program Coordinator,
Manager- Sports Medicine EFFECTIVE DATE: June 1, 2026-December
31,2028 SUMMARY: The Source Athletic Training Residency is a
18-month educational program that begins in June of 2026 and
concludes in December of 2028. This position is non-renewable. The
mission of the Source Performance Enhancement Residency is to
provide advanced practice opportunities to athletic trainers
through inter-professional collaboration, comprehensive educational
programming, and ingenuity. We aim to utilize community-based
support to develop advanced clinicians while being stewards of the
profession and giving back to the community. This residency is a
hybrid, multi-site role. Residents will not be assigned a permanent
primary worksite; instead, clinical and educational experiences
will occur across multiple locations as scheduled by the
Performance Enhancement Residency Program. Weekly assignments may
vary based on program needs, rotation structure, and outreach

opportunities to athletic trainers through interprofessional
collaboration, comprehensive educational programming, and
ingenuity. As a resident of this program, please explain how you
intend to use your performance enhancement specialty to improve
community-based healthcare as well as the standard of care in the
athletic training profession. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education: Attends and actively participates in all didactic
learning sessions, including but not limited to those set forth by
the Residency Core Faculty, Northside Hospital, and SFM Education
Committee. Completes didactic curriculum assignments in a timely
and proficient manner. Completes clinical education assignments in
a timely and proficient manner, as outlined by program faculty.
Completes all required didactic, clinical, outreach, and
professional development hours as outlined in the Residency Policy
& Procedure Manual. Accurately logs all hours using the approved
tracking system and submits them according to program deadlines.
Maintains compliance with all progression benchmarks tied to hour
completion. Participates in scheduled 1:1 mentorship sessions with
residency faculty. Engages in reflective practice, goal-setting,
and quarterly development planning. May be assigned opportunities
for teaching, leadership development, or community engagement as
part of professional growth objectives. Clinical Competence: Leads
and assists with the daily operations within the athletic training
department of the clinical site. Understands medical diagnoses and
treatment interventions. Follows established rehabilitation
protocols based on a diagnosis. Operates within Source Written
Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Delivers competent,
age-appropriate patient care, integrating infection control and
body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and
knowledge of growth and development. Evaluates all athletes,
coaches, school staff, or teachers requesting to see the Athletic
Trainer or physician. Integrates performance-enhancement
principles—including corrective exercise strategies,
movement-quality assessment, and performance progressions—into
patient care where appropriate. Collaborates with performance
coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and other specialists to
optimize athlete development and return-to-performance outcomes.
Documentation: Maintains high-quality and thorough documentation to
protect patients' safety. Ensures high quality of care. Performs
complete and accurate medical recordkeeping. Ensures the patients
get the proper care in a timely manner. Communication: Effectively
communicates healthcare structure across stakeholders at the
worksite, including Athletic Directors, Coaches, Parents,
Student-Athletes, Performance Enhancement Team, and Healthcare
Providers. Communicates with Source residency program director and
faculty regularly regarding operations at the clinical site.
Communicates with other allied health professionals to ensure
high-level interdisciplinary collaboration. Professional
Representation: Serves as a professional representative of Source
Sports Medicine and the Performance Enhancement Residency Program
in all assigned settings. Upholds organizational values, Core
Competencies, and residency professionalism standards when
interacting with athletes, coaches, staff, and community partners.
Structured Healthcare: Maintains an environment and structure
equally available to the entire population is regularly scheduled.
Maintains and periodically updates an Emergency Action Plan at your
school/site for each venue. Works contracted time allotments.
Maintains attendance at all scheduled varsity and sub-varsity
events at their primary clinical site. Checks-in with primary
clinical site daily to assess needs of teams. Identifies yourself
as a certified AT with visiting teams. Provides support to SFM
Outreach Department based on needs as assigned by management and
Program Director. Budgeting and Inventory: Maintains budgeting
funds for sports medicine services on campus. Maintains inventory
for sports medicine. Allocates funds according to company policy
and procedures. Additional Duties: Assists in and follows the
directives of the concussion management program as medical
personnel dictates and outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
Provides functional body and movement screenings. Develops and
administers a student athletic training program as outlined in the
Policy and Procedure Manual. Follows guidelines laid out within the
Policy and Procedure Manual. Follows guidelines laid out within the
Source Residency Policy and Procedure Manual. Upholds the ACGME
Core Competencies within clinical practice. Upholds SFM Core values
within their clinical practice. Minimum of 325 hours of outreach
coverage. Additional duties will remain aligned with the
educational mission of the residency and will not exceed the scope
of practice or compromise the training objectives of the program.
Hybrid Work Responsibilities Demonstrates adaptability when working
across varied sites, schedules, and stakeholder groups. Maintains
timely communication with residency leadership when working
independently at remote or off-site locations. Ensures consistent
and professional responsiveness via email and other communication
platforms during scheduled workdays. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No supervisory responsibilities are assigned to this position.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES: Practices proper safety techniques by
Source and school/county policies and procedures. Travels for
per-diem coverage needs and transportation of supplies, marketing
materials, and other essential items are deemed by the Source
Fitness Management Residency Administration. Attends mandatory
staff meetings, system-wide training, parent and booster club
meetings, and other necessary events or functions by Source Fitness
Management Residency Administration. Performs other related duties
as assigned by SFM management and residency program director,
including but not limited to supporting customers' needs outside of
the secondary school setting. Regular travel between multiple
clinical, school, community, and didactic sites is required.
Maintains reliable transportation to fulfill rotation and coverage
assignments across varying locations. Mileage reimbursement will
follow Source Sports Medicine policy. Requirements: MANDATORY
QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree (MA/MS) or equivalent, OR minimum
two to four years of related experience or training, or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses,
and registrations required: Maintains current licensure and
certification by the state of Georgia the Board of Certification
(BOC). Preferred member of the National Athletic Trainer's
Association, Southeast Athletic Trainer's Association, and Georgia
Athletic Trainer's Association. BLS certification required. Valid
state driver's license and proof of insurance. Proof of
professional liability insurance Computer skills required:
Electronic Medical Record Software; Concussion Management Systems;
Human Resource Systems; Inventory Software; and Microsoft Office
Suite. A satisfactory driving record, proof of insurance, and
reliable transportation. Good mental and physical health.
Demonstrates clinical competence in the provision of effective
service delivery appropriate to the patient's specific needs and
diagnosis. Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional
growth and improvement through continuing education opportunities.

Management Employee Manual and Policy and Procedures Manual.
