improving the health of our communities. About the Role: Job
Summary Works under the direct supervision of EMS Supervisor. The
critical care paramedic provides specialty care above scope of
practice for a Georgia licensed paramedic. Performs Specialty Care
Transport (SCT) for patients that require continuity of care for
interfacility transfers. The paramedic will provide ventilator
management including ventilation modes above rate/TV/IT, critical
device management, specialty medications, and other skills allowed
only for paramedics with additional training that has been approved
by the Georgia Office of Emergency Medical Services. The critical
care paramedic should have excellent knowledge of patient care,
clinical team leadership, and transfer of critically ill or injured
patients. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other
certifications: Active Georgia Paramedic license; and within one
year of hire CCP-C or FP-C certifications, Instructor in BLS, ACLS,
and PALS. Providers in NRP, PHTLS, and AMLS Educational
Requirements: High School Diploma Minimum Experience: Three (3) to
five (5) years of Advanced Life Support or critical care experience

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities As approved
by State of Georgia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) for
expanded scope of practice above the National Department of
Transportation scope for licensed paramedics. Critical Care
Paramedics must have completed OEMS defined and approved additional
training and have demonstrated competency in management of
critically injured or ill patients, to include but not limited to
complex drug therapy, advanced ventilatory management, medical
device management, and other skill as determined by the needs of
the organization. Safely manages critical care transfers between
NGHS facilities and others Demonstrates critical thinking skills
and attention to detail Dependable and self-motivated with ability
to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment Essential
Tasks and Responsibilities Provides advanced life support/critical
care treatment to patients. Maintains documentation of required
licensure and certification, educational training, and safety
training. Attends initial and continuing education to include, but
not limited to clinical experience in critical care units, clinical
simulations, classroom training, and certification/licensure
courses. Complies with safety standards for self, patient,
equipment, passengers, and other medical personnel. Complies with
all applicable departmental and hospital regulations, directives
and protocols. Supports teamwork in staffing coverage to ensure
24/7 coverage of critical care paramedic availability. Keeps the
quick response vehicle cleaned, fueled and well stocked at all
times. Ensures familiarity with all laws pertaining to emergency
vehicle operation and operates vehicle safely and in a professional
manner at all times. Maintains all equipment on vehicle and ensures
equipment left at the hospital is eventually retrieved. Completes
and ensures patient documentation is completed accurately and
expeditiously within the standards of the State of Georgia and
Medical Transport. All verbal communication is done according to
NGHS policy and procedures, and the Georgia Department of Public
