Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Responsibilities

Do you want to build great things in a vibrant, smart, high energy team? Are you an experienced developer looking for a role to have a bigger technical impact? We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer with cloud experience to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and must understand large-scale distributed systems. In addition, they will have a good experience of taking a new major feature from start to release. This role will drive the technical aspects of our product definition, contribute to the product strategy of our solutions, and contribute to the development of next generation Platform system features for Oracle's IaaS cloud environment.

As a Senior Principal Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that our infrastructure solutions are designed and built with the highest level of scalability in mind. You will partner with other development teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing solutions within a distributed computing environment. You will conduct threat modeling of systems under development, ensure systems are built to align with security, identity, metrics, search, and others in the design, development, and deployment of distributed systems.

Qualifications

10+ years' experience in application/infrastructure architecture/design along with operating systems, Oracle Data Base, and networking experience

7+ years distributed cloud engineering experience in a software development environment

Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in PaaS engineering.

Experience developing service-oriented architectures and web services security solutions

Development experience in Python scripting language and shell scripting

At least 6-8 years of experience in systems architecture

At least 4-6 years Oracle Database knowledge and programming in SQL, PL/SQL

Oracle Database Administration experience - both standalone & cloud based (e.g., OCI ADB, DBaaS)

At least 4-6 years of experience in web applications like Weblogic, OHS, Apache, etc.

Minimum 2-4 years of experience with Dockers, Kubernetes (OKE, AKE, EKE, GKE or others), networking protocols, advanced tools and troubleshooting techniques

Message broker experience, e.g. RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka

Experience working with other on-prem and cloud platform teams and accommodating requirements from those teams (compute, networking, search, store).

Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences

Comfortably in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Development experience in OO programming language (e.g. Java/C++/C#)

Deep understanding of object-oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment

Familiarity and understanding of distributed computing and cloud-based platforms.

Understanding of cross-functional platform feature areas in cloud platforms

Experience with Spring MVC or similar frameworks

Development experience writing Restful webservices e.g Jersey

Experience with Distributed cache e.g Hazelcast, Memcached, RedisOrchestration tools like Terraform, Rundeck, etc.

Working with or supporting production, test, and development environments for medium to large user environments

Installing and configuring application servers and database servers

Experience in developing scripts to automate software deployments and installations

Experience in a 24--7 high-availability production environment

Effective communication skills via phone and email in English are mandatory. Business Level English Skills

Possess and demonstrates strong logical-thinking skill, full of intellectual curiosity and high desire for self-development.

Ability to come with best solution by capturing big picture instead of focusing on minor details. Root cause analysis

Good customer & executive communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment

Understanding of serverless functions, service mesh

Familiarity

Ticket support systems such as JIRA, Remedy, Trac, Bugzilla, etc.

Cloud based development in OCI/Openstack/AWS/Azure/Vcloud

Linux/Windows operating systems along with virtualization

Application servers such as Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache

Oracle OVM, VMWare virtualization technologies and exposure to Cloud configuration tools

Testing frameworks like Mockito/TestNG

CI/CD automation, e.g. via Jenkins

Data visualization via Kibana

Certifications Preferred if any

Cloud Certifications - OCI Certified, AWS Certified

Java, Python Certifications

Network Certifications - CCNA

OS Certifications - OEL certified, RHCE certified

Security Certifications - Cloud security certs

Education (Preferred Degree)

M.S / B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related areas is preferred

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
