Job Description:

The Senior Structural Packaging Designer will work with the global team to drive and support disruptive, winning solutions from concept sketch through to production by utilizing knowledge of IM (Injection Molding) and ISBM (Injection Stretch Blow Molding) processes, filling processes, and package design strategies - creating new innovative packaging to support competitive advantage and secured by IP whenever possible. Support key global package design initiatives in EPIC's and Coke brand packaging. Participate in packaging governance of EPIC's and Coke brand to avoid duplication and increase harmonization of packaging globally. This individual should have a proven track record of designing innovative concepts and developing them into successful new packaging that drives business growth. They should be expert at 3D CAD, CATIA and have strong 2D concept visualization skills, in addition to a solid understanding of beverage manufacturing, plastic materials, and IM and ISBM processes.What You'll Do for Us:Lead and perform design activities for new and existing packaging, including preform, bottle, and closure design for IM and ISBM processes. Work with cross-functional teams to prototype & determine manufacturing viability, assessing and refining designs files and samples. Using 3D CAD design software / CATIA, create detailed Package designs to meet project objectives.Possess and display strong sketching/rendering capabilities to clearly present design concepts and direction.Work with vendors to source required molding tooling, secure cost estimates, and prepare purchase orders.Drive design for manufacturability, establish initial product performance specifications and ensure package designs meet quality standards and manufacturing requirements.Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of manufacturing equipment and capabilities ensuring that designs presented and developed are either within current capabilities or identify paths toward successful commercialization of key concepts when they lay outside.Develop key intellectual property positions to enable packaging technology platforms that drive broad application across the product portfolio and provide The Coca-Cola system with a sustainable competitive advantage. Develop and implement innovative systems and procedures that drive design thinking across the development process.Maintain departmental hardware/software as needed including recommending upgrades and replacements as needed.Communicate and gain alignment with internal stakeholders for projects to ensure research and development programs are successfully exploited by the Coca-Cola SystemProtect information and materials provided to third parties (e.g., consultants, vendors, suppliers, bottlers) by ensuring appropriate procedures are followed and parties are bound by Company confidentiality agreements as necessary.What You'll Need:BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar.5 years design engineering experience, ideally within beverage packaging leading to delivery of breakthrough packaging solutions.Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in package design for IM and ISBM manufacturing processes an assetSolid understanding of plastics physical properties, product design, tooling, and manufacturing for packaging.Experienced in conducting & driving design engineering within a business environment and communication to non-technical senior managers.Demonstrated ability to drive the connection between consumer/business needs and R&D solutions.Demonstrated design excellence as evidenced by IP development or the like.Core Competencies: Drives Innovative Business Improvements: Develops new insights into solutions that result in organizational improvements; promotes a work environment that fosters creative thinking, innovation and rational risk-taking.Balances Immediate and Long-Term Priorities: Seeks to meet critical objectives while considering the impact of those decisions and activities on the ability to achieve long-term goals.Delivers Results: Focuses on the critical few objectives that add the most value and channels own and others' energy to consistently deliver results that meet or exceed expectations.Imports and Exports Good Ideas: Relentlessly seeks, shares and adopts ideas and best practices in and outside the Company and embraces change introduced by others.Develops and Inspires Others: Builds and maintains relationships that motivate, guide, and/or reinforce the performance of others toward goal accomplishments.
